The Ultimate Guide to Family Fun at Fundaes Arcade

Planning the perfect family day out can sometimes feel like a high-stakes puzzle. Parents look for a safe, engaging space where younger kids can burn off energy, teenagers can find genuine entertainment, and adults can actually relax rather than just play supervisor. Meanwhile, the kids just want pure, unadulterated fun.

Enter Fundaes Arcade & Play Café in Chesterfield, New Jersey. Located within the welcoming, walkable neighborhood of The Shops at Old York Village, this community hotspot has successfully cracked the code for multi-generational entertainment. By seamlessly blending a cutting-edge modern arcade, a dedicated indoor soft play area for toddlers, and a premium dessert café and ice cream parlor, it provides an all-in-one refuge for families looking to make lasting memories rain or shine.

This comprehensive guide breaks down everything you need to know about planning the ultimate visit to this standout Central New Jersey attraction—from the game selection and membership perks to hosting stress-free birthday parties.

1. The Arcade Experience: Where Retro Nostalgia Meets Modern Innovation

At its core, the main attraction delivers exactly what the name promises: a high-energy, immersive gaming environment. Walking into the space, you are immediately greeted by a clean, sleek, and vibrant layout highlighted by flashing neon lights and the unmistakable, nostalgic sounds of victory.

Unlike older, cramped arcades of the past, this space is thoughtfully designed to be bright, spacious, and highly interactive. The game floor curates a careful balance between different styles of play, ensuring that there is a challenge suited for every type of gamer.

High-Octane Racing and Action Simulators

For thrill-seekers, the floor features a robust lineup of modern simulators. Guests can climb into the driver’s seat of high-octane racing titles like Fast & Furious Supercars or Batman, gripping real steering wheels and feeling the rumble of the road. If action and cooperative play are more your style, premium theater cabinets and shooter titles like Jurassic Park Arcade and Terminator allow players to team up to tackle cinematic, sci-fi challenges.

Virtual Reality (VR) Adventures

Fundaes elevates the classic arcade experience by incorporating state-of-the-art virtual reality. Immersive, motion-assisted VR titles—such as the wildly popular Rabbids Hollywood simulator—transport players directly into whimsical, 360-degree digital worlds. These attractions aren’t just about looking at a screen; they move and react dynamically to the game’s action, delivering amusement-park-level thrills inside a neighborhood center.

Classic Redemption and Skill Games

No true arcade experience is complete without the rhythmic roll of a skee-ball or the tense strategy of a claw machine. Families can test their skills across multiple Ice Ball lanes, challenge each other to fast-paced air hockey matches, or try their hand at an array of modern ticket-redemption and prize-crane games. As you play, your achievements accumulate digital points on your card, which can later be traded at the fully stocked redemption counter for everything from fun novelty candies to premium, high-tier prizes.

2. Padded Safety: The Toddler Soft Play Area

One of the greatest challenges for families with children of varying ages is finding an indoor space that caters safely to both groups. A traditional arcade floor can occasionally feel overwhelming or fast-paced for a toddler or preschooler. Fundaes solves this brilliantly by providing a separate, dedicated Soft Play Area engineered specifically for little explorers aged 6 and under.

This brightly colored, heavily padded environment allows infants, toddlers, and young kids to climb, crawl, slide, and explore at their own pace without the risk of colliding with older children. It provides key benefits for growing minds and bodies:

• Gross Motor Development: Soft obstacles, steps, and mini-slides encourage balance, coordination, and confident physical movement.

• Sensory and Social Play: The enclosed space acts as a gentle introduction to social interaction, allowing young children to play alongside peers in a secure, controlled setting.

• Peace of Mind for Parents: The play area is highly visible, meaning parents can sit comfortably nearby with a drink from the café while maintaining a direct, clear line of sight to their little ones.

3. The Dessert Café: Craft Coffee and Premium Ice Cream

While the kids are busy conquering virtual worlds or navigating the soft play structure, adults aren’t left on the sidelines. The facility pulls double-duty as a premium Dessert Café and Play Café, making it as much a treat for parents as it is for the children.

For the Grown-Ups: A True Café Haven

Many indoor children’s entertainment centers relegate parental seating to hard benches and stale concession food. Here, the adult experience is elevated. Parents can recharge with a full menu of craft coffee drinks, ranging from rich espresso shots to beautifully poured lattes and refreshing iced coffees. It creates an inviting community hub environment where local parents can meet up, chat, or simply catch their breath while their kids play safely.

For the Sweet Tooth: An Old-School Ice Cream Parlor

When it’s time for the family to take a collective break from the gaming floor, the on-site ice cream counter serves up pure joy. Designed with the charm of a classic parlor, the dessert café features a premium selection of creamy, high-quality ice cream scoops, handcrafted milkshakes, and extravagant sundaes loaded with custom toppings.

They even feature highly anticipated weekly promotions—including legendary buy-one-get-one-free ice cream specials on select days—making a sweet treat an affordable addition to a mid-week or weekend outing.

4. Stress-Free Birthday Parties and Community Events

If you are a parent living in Burlington County or the greater Central New Jersey area, you know how daunting planning a child’s birthday party can be. Coordinating food, managing entertainment, setting up decorations, and cleaning up the mess afterward can completely strip the joy out of the celebration for the hosting family.

Fundaes Arcade has positioned itself as the premier venue for birthday party hosting in Chesterfield, NJ. Their dedicated party team approaches every celebration with a simple philosophy: Parents should be guests at their own child’s party.

Customizable Party Packages

When you book a private or semi-private celebration, the facility handles every piece of the logistical puzzle. While specific tiers vary, their comprehensive party packages typically feature:

• Dedicated Party Space: A private, decorated area set aside exclusively for your group to gather, eat, and sing.

• All-Inclusive Play Passes: Every young guest receives dedicated game cards pre-loaded with arcade credits or special passes to access the Virtual Reality simulators and Toddler Soft Play areas.

• Sweet Treats and Catering: Seamless integration with the dessert café means high-quality food, custom sweet treats, and premium ice cream are served fresh to your party table.

• A Dedicated Party Host: A staff member is assigned directly to your event to orchestrate the timing, hand out cards, serve refreshments, and handle the entire cleanup process from start to finish.

A Vibrant Community Hub

Beyond birthdays, the venue functions as an active cultural anchor for Chesterfield and surrounding towns. The management regularly hosts organized mommy-and-me meetups, local small business pop-up events, seasonal holiday workshops, and special promotional days—such as their celebrated Juneteenth family fun events featuring discounted toddler play and bonus arcade credits.

5. Maximizing Value: Smart Play Cards and Memberships

For families who plan to visit frequently, navigating the cost of indoor entertainment is an important factor. Fundaes utilizes a modern, cashless card system that makes budget management incredibly simple, transparent, and rewarding.

The Spend-and-Receive Bonus System

Instead of carrying around cups of plastic tokens or physical paper tickets, guests load funds directly onto a reusable digital Game Card. The facility rewards families who plan ahead by offering a progressive bonus credit structure:

Note: There is a one-time $1 activation fee per new card, and registering your email onsite immediately unlocks a one-time $5 Free Play reward.

The Ultimate Family Memberships

For local residents who find themselves visiting multiple times a month, standard pay-as-you-go play can easily be upgraded to a highly economical monthly membership plan. These packages are specifically tailored for families and siblings, driving down the per-child cost significantly the more children you enroll.

Memberships are available in flexible 30-day, 90-day, and 180-day commitments, packing every single visit with high-value perks:

1. Unlimited Open Play Sessions: Unrestricted access to keep the kids active whenever boredom strikes.

2. A Monthly $10 Game Card: Fresh arcade credits deposited automatically every single month.

3. 10% Off Café Purchases: Savings on your daily coffee, espresso, or family ice cream treats.
